MERRIMACK VALLEY REGIONAL INNOVATION GRANT
REGIONAL STRATEGIC PLAN

The Regional Strategic Plan is a mechanism for RIG grantees to communicate their vision, goals and strategies for transforming the regional economy.  It is a living document intended to serve as a roadmap for partners and stakeholders to leverage their identified assets in realizing the vision for their region.  The plan is data-driven, reflecting the interconnections among all regional stakeholder groups.

A well-developed regional strategy actively engages all key players and leverages their collective assets to devise innovative strategies that focus on infrastructure, investments, and talent development to facilitate an effective system-wide response to unanticipated economic events.  The major components of the Strategic Plan include:

  1. Defining the Region
  2. Developing Regional Leadership
  3. Conducting a Regional Assessment
  4. Creating a Shared Regional Identity and Vision
  5. Devising Strategies
  6. Leveraging Resources

The Merrimack Valley Regional Strategic Plan for the Manufacturing Sector will create a regional economic framework to support the efforts of industry, workforce development, economic development, education, training and other stakeholders to create jobs, provide needed workforce skills and improve the quality of life in the region.   It will incorporate a regional plan of action to facilitate reemployment for workers affected by current and future cross-regional dislocations in the manufacturing sector caused by reductions in force or plant closings.  In addition, the plan will promote collaboration among regional partners to connect resources and support regional economic growth and competitiveness strategies.  The draft strategic plan is in development and the final plan is scheduled for release by June 30, 2010 after review and approval by the Core Leadership Committee.  Click the link below to download the Strategic Plan.
